With the US PGA Championship next week, Rory McIlroy’s limping throughout Sunday’s final round of the Truist Championship was concerning for the Masters champion.
McIlroy informed reporters that he had a blister on his right pinky toe, but he declined to use it as an excuse for shooting a four-over-par 75 on Saturday, which eventually caused his tournament in North Carolina to fail this week.
When asked about his limp on Sunday, McIlroy responded, “Yeah, I have a blister on my pinky toe on my right foot.” However, it’s beneath my nail.
I’ll be okay even though I can’t actually get to it or it hurts a little. On Friday afternoon, I began to feel it.
However, McIlroy firmly responded, “No, not at all,” when asked if it had affected his dismal third round. I wish that was a justification, but it’s not at all.
At the Truist Championship with a Major the following week, Rory McIlroy was battling a blister.
Aronimink Golf Club, which is close to Philadelphia, will host the PGA, the second major of the year, on Thursday.
Reporters were informed by McIlroy that he went to the course last week to intensify his championship preparations.
He remarked, “It was nice to get an early look at it.” “It simply means that you won’t have to play a lot of holes the week of the tournament.” “Practice rounds at the PGA can be excruciatingly long, so it’s probably going to just be nine holes Tuesday, nine holes Wednesday.”
