The tweet, which came from the account that represents the Queen and any working royals who don’t have their own social media accounts, also contained a good luck message from Princess Anne, Team GB’s President.
It said, “From home, I and the entire nation will be cheering you on and proudly supporting you.”
This phrase was taken from Princess Anne’s poignant address, which was shared on the royals’ social media on Monday.
The Princess Royal, who made history by being the first member of the Firm to compete in the Olympics in 1976, is claimed to be disappointed that she would not be able to support Team GB in Japan.
“As your President, I would like to wish you all the best for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games,” she stated.
“Although I will miss being there in person, I, along with the rest of the country, will be rooting for you and proudly supporting you from afar.”
“I definitely remember the anticipation and excitement of going onto the Olympic stage from my own Olympic journey,” she said, recalling her own Olympic experience.
“But there’s also the laser-like focus on the task at hand.
“I know you’ve all worked really hard for this moment, amid the most trying of circumstances.
“I also hope you will find the Team GB environment to be a source of encouragement and inspiration for you.
“This is your Olympics,” says the narrator. It will be unique, but not in terms of its significance to you.
“Savor it, and above all, have fun with it.
“Wishing you luck! And I’m looking forward to toasting your accomplishments with you in the fall.”
Princess Anne became interested in Olympic-related organizations after competing in the Montreal Olympics as an equestrian.
She is also a member of the International Olympic Committee in addition to being President of Team GB.
As Director of the London Organising Committee, the Princess was also involved in London’s successful bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
