Before the holidays complete, Kate Middleton and William join the Queen at Balmoral for some “family time.”
KATE MIDDLETON and Prince William are expected to join the Queen at Balmoral in the last week of August, according to a royal source.
According to Vanity Fair, the Cambridge family has spent time in Balmoral, including their three children. They’ve also been able to see Prince Charles and Camilla, who are staying at Birkhall, the estate that the Queen mother left to Charles when she died in 2002.
The Queen is spending her first summer at Balmoral without her husband, Prince Philip.
“William, Kate, and the children have been enjoying some family time in Scotland, and they have just spent some special time with the Queen,” a source told Vanity Fair.
“They always look forward to travelling up to Balmoral because they enjoy being outside, strolling in the hills, and spending quality time with their families.
“It’s where William spent a lot of his boyhood, and it’s essential to him that his children see what he saw when he was a kid.”
Prince William’s inaugural statement at the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in May, in which he reflected on his time in Scotland, touched on his “happiest” and “saddest” recollections.
“Scotland is a source of some of my best memories, but also some of my saddest,” he remarked.
“I was at Balmoral when I learned of my mother’s death. Still in shock, I took refuge in the Crathie Kirk service that morning, and I found comfort and consolation in the Scottish outdoors in the days that followed.
“Alongside this terrible memory is one of immense joy because I met Catherine for the first time 20 years ago this year in Scotland.”
The Cambridges will also spend the last week of the school holidays in August 2020 with the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, according to sources from last year.
Since 1852, Balmoral has been one of the Royal Family’s palaces.
The Queen has been in Scotland since July 23 on her annual visit to the country’s royal palace.
This comes as Prince William and Kate Middleton are said to be looking for a home near Windsor in order to be closer to the monarch.
“Anmer Hall made sense while William was a helicopter pilot in East Anglia, and it was useful for Christmases in Sandringham, but it doesn’t really function anymore,” a source told the Mail on Sunday.
