Australians working in the plumbing industry have been revealed to be the ‘richest’ tradies, according to a new report.
Contracting website ServiceSeeking has released its quarterly ‘Tradie Rich List,’ showing which tradesmen are in the most lucrative fields – as well as which charge out rates have decreased over the last year.
Topping off the list are plumbers who are raking in an eye-popping $87.88 per hour – an increase from a $84.53 in 2018.
Not too far behind are earthworks contractors who are earning $87.48 per hour, air-conditioning technicians at $85.80 per hour and electricians with an $80.34 hourly rate.
However, only a few trades have benefited from higher charge out rates compared to last year, according to the report.
Those trades were concreters who saw an increase of 7.1 per cent, plumbers at 4 per cent, and architects, slightly higher, 4.8 per cent.
Figures show hourly rates over the top 20 trade industries have declined by 3.6 per cent year on year, dropping from $67.94 per hour to $65.52 per hour.
The trades with the largest decreases were found to be tilers, falling by 12.8 per cent, arborists with 12.7, and bricklayers with 11.2 per cent drop.
Service Seeking’s list also revealed the job with the lowest charge out rate which is the cleaning industry charging $34.39 per hour – a two per cent decrease from this time last year.
Gardeners also make up the low charge out list with $48.39 an hour, and painters with $49.63.
The Tradie Rich List analysed over 5,000 hourly rate bids over it’s first quarter of 2019 and 2018.
