Though ballots are still being tabulated, Spencer Pratt has maintained his lead over rival Nithya Raman in the tight contest to become the next mayor of Los Angeles.
With 34.8 percent of the vote thus far, incumbent Democratic leader Karen Bass has progressed to the runoff election, while Pratt is just trailing in second place with 30.44 percent.
Pratt’s left-leaning opponent, city councilwoman Raman, is in third place with a mere 22.32 percent. Thus far, sixty-three percent of the votes have been counted.
The largest city in California will elect a new mayor if one contender receives more than 50% of the vote in Tuesday night’s primary.
The top two finishers, however, move on to a head-to-head match in November if none of the contenders meet the majority criterion.
Pratt, 42, a registered Republican, will face Bass, 72, who has led the city since 2022, according to preliminary counts.
The reality TV personality, who rose to prominence on MTV’s The Hills, declared that he is prepared to take on Bass.”He told reporters on Tuesday night, “We can do debates every Friday if she would like.” “I got in this because I felt like my city failed myself, my neighbors,” he said, painting a negative picture of Los Angeles’ current situation and outlining his goals, which include “helping those homeless people.”

When the preliminary results revealed that Raman had finished a distant third in the race, she started crying.
Many celebrities, including Pratt’s wife and fellow reality TV star Heidi Montag, attended his main night celebration.

“I’m an Angeleno who said enough is enough, and I had to step up” is how Pratt summed up his candidacy, claiming that he has both Democratic and Republican backers.
With obvious excitement, he declared, “I’m going to show everybody that I’m their mayor,” before concluding his speech. “I’m heading to grab some tacos.”
Raman, meanwhile, started crying as the race’s preliminary results revealed she had dropped to a far third place.
The left-wing politician said that her waning campaign had been “about building a city that is worthy of you” while crying on stage while honoring her kids.
Early in the race, the councilwoman was a front-runner, but as she ran on a number of woke platforms, such as tax increases, preserving Los Angeles’ status as a “Sanctuary City,” and rejecting prohibitions on homeless encampments close to schools, her support plummeted.
While acknowledging that her tenure in office has been difficult, Bass has highlighted the country’s second-most populated city’s record low homicide rate and decreases in homelessness.
She was the first Black woman to hold the position of mayor and a former member of Congress.
With 34.8 percent of the vote thus far, incumbent Democrat Mayor Karen Bass has progressed to the runoff election. According to preliminary results, 42-year-old registered Republican Pratt will face off against 72-year-old Bass, who has led the city since 2022, in November.
Numerous celebrities, including Pratt’s wife and fellow reality TV star Heidi Montag, attended his main night celebration.
Their $3 million house was destroyed in the 2025 Palisades Fire, and he used the anger of the locals at the city’s handling of the fires to further his political agenda.
Pratt has promised to fight the city’s large homeless camps, accusing Bass of permitting their growth.
He has positioned himself as a candidate who will overthrow bureaucracy and bring about significant change in the city, much like Donald Trump.
In order to help victims recover more swiftly, he has promised to minimize bottlenecks in the permission process and streamline the chain of command for crises like wildfires.
Additionally, Pratt has promised to increase the number of LAPD officers and prioritize treatment when dealing with homelessness.
Although it wasn’t always the case, California has recently been seen as a Democratic bastion.
In the last 60 years, the state has had more Republican governors than Democratic ones; the most recent was the Austrian-American actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who served as governor from 2003 to 2011.
