The millionaire founder of the fashion business Mango’s son posted a video of his father tumbling, claiming it demonstrates that he died after unintentionally falling from a mountain.
After his father, 71-year-old Isak, the founder of the Mango fashion business, fell over 500 feet to his death in December 2024 while hiking close to Barcelona, Jonathan Andic, 45, was detained on suspicion of murder.
Since then, his passport has been seized, he is prohibited from leaving Spain due to a travel ban, and he must appear in court every week.
A video of Jonathan’s father stumbling on his way to a business lunch 10 months prior to his death has finally been made public by his defense team.
Isak was seen on camera approaching three males who were waiting at a doorway before his knee gave way and he lost his balance.
Two of the men stepped in to block Isak’s fall when he stumbled forward, his head tilted toward some stairs.
The footage was made public by Jonathan’s attorneys to refute a judge’s assertion that Isak’s palm injuries precluded an unintentional fall.
Police data that indicated marks on the ground where Isak fell to his death did not match a trip or fall was noted by Judge Raquel Nieto Galvan.
In CCTV footage that his son posted, Isak Andic, the creator of Mango, seemed to be heading toward some steps on his way to a business lunch.
Then it seemed as though Isak’s knees gave way beneath him, and he stumbled forward in the direction of the stairs.
Isak was lying down on the ground after two of the men tried to cushion his fall.
Three men continued to encourage Isak when he was hoisted to his feet.
The defense claimed that “the reduction in reaction time during the fall” was caused by the Mango founder’s gonarthrosis in his knees.
In the past, Ms. Galvan said that because of discrepancies between Jonathan’s testimony in court and his remarks following his father’s passing, she had declared him a suspect.
She claimed that because of his “bad relationship” with his father and his “obsession” with money, Isak felt “compelled” to accept financial requests “in order to continue having a relationship with his son.”
Ms. Galvan stated that Jonathan had scouted out the mountain area before to their stroll in a 17-page court document made public after the 45-year-old secured €1 million bond (£865,000).
Additionally, according to the judge, Jonathan said that the old iPhone 14 he was using at the time of his father’s death had been stolen during a trip to Ecuador and that he had deleted its contents when he switched terminals.
However, investigators think he erased his father’s communications, which were lost when he set up his new cellphone.
According to Jonathan’s attorney, he asked for a new phone two weeks after his father passed away, but due to “negligence,” it wasn’t picked up until the theft.
After his father died after falling during a climb in December 2024, Jonathan Andic was detained on suspicion of murder.

In the week prior to Isak’s fall, he allegedly made three trips to the Montserrat mountain, the site of his father’s death.
Police said that on December 10, four days prior to Isak’s passing, Jonathan traveled nearly exactly the same path as his father.
Following his detention, Jonathan declared this week that he would “step away” from Mango.
“I need to focus all my energy on proving my innocence,” he wrote in an open letter on Tuesday. “The attention and focus necessary to my defense in the judicial process mean I cannot maintain the high levels of dedication required by my role in the company.”
Toni Ruiz, the CEO of Mango, stated in a separate open letter to employees that Jonathan had made the decision to “temporarily” step down from his position as vice president.
Jonathan has consistently maintained that his father’s passing was an accident.
Isak and his brother Nahman founded one of the largest fashion empires in Europe in 1984. Isak was born in Turkey before relocating to Catalonia in northern Spain.
Mango currently employs more than 16,000 people and has 2,800 outlets in more than 120 countries.
Forbes assessed his wealth to be £3.3 billion.
