According to authorities, a crazy man broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house and attempted to kill her son.
According to a news release from the Suffolk County Police Department, Robert Schreiber, 42, is charged with breaking into the New York residence and repeatedly stabbing his ex’s 22-year-old son.
On April 17, Schreiber’s long-time girlfriend broke up with him and locked the 42-year-old out of her Marvin Street house in the Long Island town of Patchogue.
Schreiber allegedly broke into the house at 8 a.m. the next day while everyone was asleep, via an open window.
According to reports, Schreiber broke into the victim’s room and stabbed him seven times, almost killing him. His identity has not been made public.
The 22-year-old was able to flee down the stairs when family members were able to stop Schreiber and dial 911.
The man was taken to NYU Langone Hospital to receive treatment for his stab wounds when Suffolk County Police officers arrived on the scene.
Schreiber was taken into custody by police, who also discovered that he had the knife that he was accused of using in the assault.

The 42-year-old is charged with several offences, including assault, weapons possession, child endangerment, attempted murder, burglary, and harassment.
According to the release, while the case is pending, the accused perp is being held on $100,000 cash bail, a $1,000,000 bond, or a $1,000,000 partially secured bond.
“This was a violent attack on a young man in his own home,” stated District Attorney Tierney. Schreiber is scheduled to return to court on May 28, 2026, and if found guilty, he may spend up to 25 years in jail.
“Domestic violence frequently intensifies when a relationship ends. We will pursue justice for the victim and his family by vigorously prosecuting this defendant.
This comes after another deadly stabbing at a Long Island fast-food restaurant.
After turning himself in regarding the killings of his 32-year-old flatmate and 42-year-old coworker, Ana Maria del Aguila-Cordova, Rony Yahir Alvarenga Rivera, 22, was placed under arrest on Saturday.
The 42-year-old is accused of several crimes, including attempted murder.
At approximately 12.30 a.m. on Friday, Aguila-Cordova was discovered outside of an Island Park Wendy’s, where she and Rivera allegedly worked together, following her removal of the trash.
The second victim, who has not yet been identified, resided in the same apartment complex as Rivera and was discovered fatally stabbed in her Valley Stream home.
Shortly after three in the morning on Friday, her body was discovered. According to authorities, she was slain on Thursday night at around nine o’clock.
