After Meghan Ofcom’s judgement, an enraged caller starts a diatribe against Piers Morgan, calling him a “idiot.”
After Ofcom dismissed complaints over former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan’s assaults on Meghan Markle, one LBC caller lambasted the journalist, calling him a “idiot” and stating he simply “doesn’t like the bloke.”
Sean, a caller to LBC, informed Nick Ferrari that he didn’t like Piers Morgan when discussing Meghan Markle and Mr Morgan’s latest Ofcom verdict. Following Mr Morgan’s denunciation of the Duchess of Sussex during her interview with Oprah Winfrey, the media regulator dismissed 58,000 objections. Mr Ferrari, the host, inquired if Sean was happy with the triumph for free expression but couldn’t persuade the irate caller who had a lot to say about Mr Morgan.
Mr Morgan left Good Morning Britain in March after receiving widespread criticism for questioning the legitimacy of Meghan Markle’s claims during an Oprah Winfrey interview.
Mr Morgan dismissed Meghan’s mental health concerns the day after the interview aired, saying he didn’t “believe a word she said” and that her attacks on the Royal Family were “contemptible.”
A total of 58,000 complaints were filed to Ofcom, including one from the Duchess of Sussex herself, according to reports.
The media regulator, however, rejected all of the complaints this week, claiming that while they did not want to restrict public discourse, they did not always agree with the reasons stated.
Mr Ferrari was asked if he welcomed the verdict by caller Sean, who rang into LBC.
Before telling the LBC broadcaster he “doesn’t like the bloke,” Sean claimed Mr Morgan should be “fired.”
Mr Ferrari, who pointed out that Mr Morgan had already been fired from Good Morning Britain, was perplexed and stated that Mr Morgan was “just expressing an opinion” that should be tolerated.
Sean dismissed the idea once more, adding, “At the end of the day, he has learned nothing since he came out with ‘Princess Pinnochio’ yesterday, the man’s an idiot, he doesn’t know what he’s saying.”
“This is a stunning triumph for free expression and a resounding defeat for Princess Pinocchio,” Mr Morgan remarked shortly after the verdict.
Mr Ferrari wanted Sean to explain why Mr Morgan couldn’t have an opinion that differed from Meghan Markle’s because the caller didn’t like the way the ITV presenter “stated it.”
