After Chelsy and Cressida’s public spat, Prince Harry worried that he would never marry.

In a new BBC documentary, royal editor Roya Nikkhah claims that Prince Harry feared he would never marry because of his ex-girlfriends Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas’ media battles.

Harry, 37, and Meghan Markle, 40, have two children together, Archie Harrison, two, and Lilibet Diana, five months.

On several occasions, the Duke of Sussex has spoken out about Meghan’s exposure to the media.

Just a week after their relationship was made public, he made his first unprecedented statement, urging the press to “pause” before causing “further damage.”

Meghan isn’t the only one of Harry’s partners who has been scrutinized.

According to a new BBC documentary, Harry’s relationships with Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas were also scrutinized.

‘The Princes and the Press,’ hosted by Amol Rajan, delves into the history of Harry, Prince William, their partners, and the media’s relationship with them.

Roya Nikkhah, royal editor of The Sunday Times, claimed in episode one that Harry was once concerned that he would never marry because of how his previous relationships had been affected by the intense public and press scrutiny.

He worried that he wouldn’t be able to have a family after his relationships with Chelsy and Cressida ended, partly due to their inability to cope with dating a royal, while his friends settled down around him.

“When you’re dating or considering marrying a member of the Royal Family, the scrutiny you face is enormous,” Ms Nikkhah said.

“One of the reasons Harry’s previous relationships with Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas didn’t go all the way was that neither of them wanted to be subjected to that level of media scrutiny.”

“He was in his thirties at the time.”

Many of his friends were marrying and starting families.

“He was worried that he wouldn’t be able to find someone who could handle it,” says the narrator.

Between 2004 and 2011, Harry and Chelsy, a Zimbabwean businesswoman, dated on and off for seven years.

Chelsy told The New York Times in 2016 that she found the media attention “very difficult” at times and described it as “horrible.”

“It was difficult,” she admitted.

It was insane, terrifying, and unsettling.”

Between 2012 and 2013, Cressida dated Harry.
