After becoming stuck beneath a lorry, a waste site worker died.
After the tragedy today, the guy perished at Woods Waste, a private garbage and waste management site in Blackpool, Lancashire. He was pinned under an HGV, police said, and couldn’t be saved despite paramedics’ best attempts.
According to Lancs Live, a joint inquiry has been initiated with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Further information on the man, such as his age or where he is from, has not been released by police.
A spokesman for Lancashire Constabulary said, “We were contacted at 12.20pm today (Monday, October 4) following a report of an industrial accident at Woods Waste in Peel Road.”
“A worker at the facility was said to have become trapped beneath a lorry. Sadly, he was pronounced dead on the spot.
“The Health and Safety Executive and the police have launched a joint inquiry.
“At this sad and difficult time, our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends.”
When LancsLive called Woods Waste for comment, they were unavailable.
HSE has been contacted by the magazine.
The probe is still ongoing.
