After attempting to swim across an Arizona lake, a high school student who was only a few days away from graduating drowned.
According to Arizona Family, Jaysyn Robles, an 18-year-old senior from Imagine Prep in Coolidge, passed away at Canyon Lake on Friday.
Just before 1:00 PM, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office reported that its Lake Patrol unit responded to a drowning.
Robles started to suffer while trying to swim across the body of water, according to officials.
The high school boy sank beneath the water despite the efforts of those at the lake to save him.
A witness named Lin Powell told AZ Family that he heard Robles crying for his life and dialled 911 for assistance.
“When I called [911] at 12:45 p.m., I told them to get divers out here now,” Powell stated.
He continued by saying that he saw Robles’ relatives and friends frantically attempting to save him.

In a GoFundMe page, Robles’ devastated family said that “he had his whole life ahead of him” and “was deeply loved by his family, friends, classmates, and especially by his little sister and his mom, who are now facing an unimaginable loss.”
The victim’s long-time friend Peter Blind told the publication that Robles had lofty goals for his post-high school career, saying, “He was really excited to graduate; he was ready to start working.” He had a tonne of various suggestions about what to do. He considered flying and perhaps travelling to Africa, according to Blind.
He continued by saying that after spending half of his life with Robles, he would now have to walk alone to get his diploma.
In a statement, Robles’ family said, “Our family is completely heartbroken right now. Jaysyn was only eighteen years old and was supposed to graduate from Imagine Coolidge Prep on May 20th.”
According to officials, others tried to save Robles as he was drowning but were unable.
Robles would graduate in less than two weeks. He “played football, wrestling, and football, and was loved by everyone around him,” according to his relatives.
He was witty, gregarious, athletic, and full of energy and a smile that could brighten any space. Above all, Jaysyn was a truly good child.
“He made everyone laugh, showed up for the people he cared about, and was constantly checking on people.”
“They continued, “He had such a big heart and the kind of presence that made people gravitate toward him.”
He had a lot of life ahead of him and loved his family very much, especially his younger sister. Everyone who knew him, including our family, has been devastated by this loss.
“At the moment, we’re just attempting to support one another through this unbearable suffering by taking things moment by moment.”
In a statement on Saturday, Imagine Prep at Coolidge said that they were heartbroken by the death and that they are providing grief counsellors and support workers to pupils on campus.
