After being unintentionally hit in the neck by a baseball on Tuesday, a 12-year-old kid from New Jersey is battling for his life in the hospital.
Xavier Taylor is in critical condition after the bizarre tragedy in South Jersey, where he was warming up before a Maple Shade Youth Baseball game, according to New York outlet ABC7.
“My son Xavier loves this game.” Taylor was reportedly evacuated to Cooper University Hospital after being struck by an errant toss. He is currently in the intensive care unit. Greg Taylor, his father, reportedly assured the audience at Fellowship Columbia Bank Field, “He will play this game again.”
At the field where the event happened on Thursday night, hundreds of friends, neighbors, and teammates came for a prayer vigil that included music, candles, and words of hope. Many of them were wearing jerseys with his No. 6 jersey number on them.
One speaker is cited as stating, “Tonight, we are here to lift him up in prayer, strength, hope, and love.”
After the bizarre baseball accident in South Jersey, Xavier Taylor is in critical condition.
“Baseball teaches us about teamwork, showing up for one another and never giving up, and tonight, that’s exactly what we’re doing for Xavier,” Greg, the boy’s father, wrote on social media of the family’s support.
“I could not have asked or ever dreamed of support like this right now, but our end goal is for our son to be back on this field or whatever field is next destined for him,” Greg Taylor stated, adding that supporters also organized a meal train for the family and raised over $60,000 to assist them.
Additionally, Greg provided multiple pictures of Xavier in a Facebook post: “We believe and agree that miracles do exist and a miracle will happen for our Xavier.” “There are no words to describe the outpouring of love, visitors, support, donations, thoughts, and prayers to our family over the last few days.”
