After a 5 a.m. row with Prince Philip, the Queen was enraged: ‘She was not happy.’
QUEEN ELIZABETH II was furious with Prince Philip after a 5 a.m. altercation with a personal security officer.
The Queen’s first wedding anniversary since the death of the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, is today, and it will be a difficult day for her.
The difficult milestone would have marked the royal couple’s 74th year of marriage, seven months after Philip’s death at the age of 99.
It’s also been a month since the Queen was admitted to hospital overnight for preliminary investigations and was advised to rest by her royal doctors.
Philip was at the Queen’s side throughout the decades, supporting her as she devoted herself to her role as head of state, and their relationship lasted the longest of any British monarch.
The Queen said she and her family were in a “period of great sadness” following his death in April, but that the tributes paid to him had comforted them.
“We have been deeply touched, and we continue to be reminded, Philip had such an extraordinary impact on countless people throughout his life,” she added.
The Queen and Prince Philip spent decades together on royal engagements all over the world.
This included a story about Philip’s altercation with a personal protection officer at Balmoral.
The story was told in Robert Jobson’s book, Prince Philip’s Century: The Extraordinary Life of the Duke of Edinburgh, which was published earlier this year.
The story of Philip’s 5 a.m. argument with the Queen was told on ITV’s Royal Rota podcast with ITV’s royal editor Chris Ship.
“After speaking with various unnamed sources, there was another incident in the book that I found very amusing,” he said.
“There was a story at Balmoral that if Philip was on vacation, he was really on vacation.
“And he was up at 5 a.m., a very active character, long before the Queen’s pipers woke her up with the pipes,” says the narrator.
So he gets into an argument with a personal protection officer who was assigned to him and asks, “What are you doing?”
“I don’t need you, I’m on vacation,” he explained.
Around 5.30 a.m., Prince Philip allegedly “erupted” in a full-fledged argument.
However, this did not go over well with the Queen.
Mr Jobson claims she expressed her emotions after being awakened.
