After returning to work following the birth of her son Braxton, former football star Abbey Holmes responded to those who criticised her work schedule.
Holmes has been so busy that Braxton, who has already travelled to five different countries, may have earned the title of globe traveller before the age of one.
Additionally, a strong minority on social media chose to criticise Holmes for her work schedule.
Given that the former AFLW Premiership player frequently appears on television as a presenter and commentator for Seven Network, many have questioned her dedication to her 10-month-old kid.
The 35-year-old has not taken that lightly, as evidenced by the hurt such remarks have caused her.
To her husband Keegan Brooksby’s dismay, Holmes has occasionally even taken time out of her day to reply to those detractors on social media.
A man named Daryl wrote, “Any chance you could spend a minute or two with your baby, you self-centred egotist?” and that really got to Holmes.
After internet trolls questioned Abbey Holmes’ dedication to her small kid, she responded to those who criticised her work schedule.
After having a baby named Braxton, Brooks continues to be a Channel Seven analyst and has already taken him to five different nations.
“I get emotional even talking about it now,” Holmes told Adelaide Now. “I didn’t expect the amount of backlash that I got returning to work.” Holmes has told social media trolls that she wouldn’t change a thing in spite of the internet trolls.
The pictures she shared of herself preparing to host the Brownlow red carpet ignited the backlash against the Channel Seven pundit, who had already been doubting her decision to go back to work.
All of the keyboard warriors emerge at that point. “I love Adelaide football games because Braxxy comes with me,” she said. “That was probably the hardest part, even harder than actually going back to work with a newborn.” Since both of our parents reside in Adelaide and we stay at the Oval Hotel, we have a network of support.
One thing is certain, though: Holmes is totally devoted to her son Braxton, with whom she spends all of her free time. She says, “I’m obsessed with being Braxton’s mom, but I also have big goals and dreams and big career aspirations.” “Everything I’m doing now is ultimately for him and his future,” she continued. “Keegan is the best teammate in every way.” Without him, I couldn’t accomplish this. You’re already doubting yourself as a new mother since we both know that each other has aspirations and ambitions, therefore we try our best to support them. Is this appropriate for us? Is he alright? Am I causing any harm? “Then there’s the pile-on… people saying, ‘How dare you go back to work?” Mom guilt is undoubtedly increased by it. “It doesn’t sit well with me when people are questioning your dedication to your child.”
“”Every other waking moment, I’m with my son, but people think it’s glamorous when they see me on screen or on social media,” she explains. Furthermore, the task itself is by no means simple.”They don’t realise how much preparation and planning goes into it,” she says. “Hours and hours of watching vision, analysing games, going through press conferences.”According to her, “live TV can be a scary place because people come for you if you make a mistake or do something wrong.”
Holmes is unwavering and defiant, stating she wouldn’t “change anything,” even after retaliating against those detractors.
