A local councilman claims that neighbors are afraid for their safety after a man was beaten for asking some neighboring partygoers to tone down their music.
A 47-year-old man with serious injuries was discovered by neighbors following an incident that happened on Friday night in Dee Why, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
The man, who resides in a flat close to James Meehan Reserve, yelled at a group of people having a good time in the park to turn down their music.
Nine News was informed by a local witness that the group had a “boom box” that was “really, really loud at one stage.”
According to another witness, the victim was yelling at the group from his balcony before descending to greet them.
He was rushed to the hospital with facial injuries after being cornered and beaten, according to police. “He believes he was lying there for an hour but we’re yet to investigate that properly,” Inspector Vanessa Robinson stated.
Although his condition is stable, the event has caused anxiety in the neighborhood.
On Friday night, paramedics place the 47-year-old on a stretcher.
At James Meehan Reserve in Dee Why, the partygoers were playing loud music.
The man has face injuries, so paramedics load him into an ambulance and transport him to the hospital.
Northern Beaches residents are terrified to even take their dogs on walks, according to local councillor Vincent De Luca, who told Nine News. “We have a gang crime epidemic that needs to be addressed,” he stated. “NSW Police need to get on this pretty quickly, as our community expects arrests and justice.”
Locals told Nine News that they were occasionally afraid and that the occurrence was not uncommon given the neighborhood.
Despite the incident, Inspector Robinson stated that visiting parks was safe.
Authorities asked parents to keep an eye on their kids riding e-bikes earlier this year due to an increase in disruptive behavior in Sydney, especially on the Northern Beaches.
