A man has been hospitalized with “severe injuries,” according to a statement released by the Metropolitan Police Department.
POLICE went to a canal barge in Ealing, London, where they discovered a man suffering from “severe injuries” that they believe were self-inflicted.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene near Ferrymead Avenue. Several police cars and ambulances were seen in the video footage released on social media near the purported incident. The canal barge was inspected by the Metropolitan Police soon before 5.55 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a statement.
Inside, they discovered a male who had suffered major injuries, “which are considered to be self-inflicted at this time.”
Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance were dispatched.
The man was rushed to the hospital, where his condition is described as “life threatening.”
People had resorted to Twitter earlier to complain about gridlocked traffic in the region.
“The cops have been here since around 6.15 p.m.,” one commented.
“Anyone coming off the A40 should reconsider their plans because the road is closed, and I haven’t moved in 50 minutes.”
