A man pulled out a machete and started stabbing another man at a Phoenix light-rail platform on a recent afternoon, court records show.
At about 3:52 p.m. Oct. 24, the suspect, Jaron Yazzie, 30, started punching the male victim and knocked down a woman at the rail platform at 1855 W. Camelback Road, Maricopa County court records show.
The woman moved to the end of the platform and watched as Yazzie pulled out a machete, court records show.
Yazzie, 30, then attacked the man with the machete, authorities said.
Yazzie fled northbound on 19th Avenue. When confronted by police, he ran west across the street. He stopped near the light-rail line, dropping the machete, and was detained by police, court records show.
Yazzie initially refused to give his name until officers reminded him that he is required by law to identify himself, police said.
The man who was stabbed received cuts that required medical attention.
Yazzie was booked into jail and charged with obstruction, disorderly conduct and aggravated assault, court records show. The records didn’t identify the victims.
