A GP surgery has slammed a “demoralizing” statement accusing clinicians of “hiding.”
A note addressed to a Cheshire surgery sparked uproar as it accused doctors of being “in hiding.”
A note received through the prescription request box at Alderley Edge Medical Centre has been condemned by staff. “When will GPs come out of hiding and start providing the people with the service they deserve and for which they have paid their taxes?” it asked.
The note was found in the Alderley Edge GP’s prescription request box today, and he posted it on social media with the caption: “This was in our prescription request box today.” How demoralizing, especially after all of our efforts. We never shut down. We are not attempting to conceal ourselves.
“During this pandemic, we have provided extraordinary service to individuals in need. Unfortunately, stupidity has no known treatment.”
People on social media expressed their support for the procedure, with one commenting, “This is dreadful.” Many people have put off calling their doctors since they are aware of how stressed and under pressure these gifted individuals are.
“Give the GPs, experts, and medical personnel a break!” Despite the fact that stress and overwork are harmful, they continue to work. I’m speechless.”
“When I called my GP five months ago in a relative emergency, the receptionist got off the phone, plainly spoke to a doctor, and called me back two minutes later,” another remarked. I could see they were busy, but they continued to call me on a weekly basis after that. It isn’t flawless, but these are people working under duress.”
According to CheshireLive, one patient even sent down a gift of chocolates to demonstrate their appreciation for the employees.

Many people, on the other hand, used the chance to air their grievances. “As a patient, I understand with your problems, but I also relate to the emotion represented in the note,” one person said.
“I have tremendous regard for the NHS, but can any GPs explain why, after receiving certain test results, I had to wait a month for a follow-up appointment (a phone call)?” said another.
“The issue is not all GPs are hiding, some are,” a third stated. The generalization was caused by a handful of GPs!”
