According to police, a delivery driver who crashed his car into a Colorado house while intoxicated is being charged with DUI.
When the South Metro Fire Department and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrived to the scene of the collision on Wedgewood Drive in Highlands Ranch, south of Denver, on Sunday, they discovered a red Mazda that was nearly completely within the house.
The car had stopped between two couches, with the driver’s side door within a few feet from a piano, according to startling pictures posted online.
The house’s side was severely damaged in the collision.
Amazingly, no one was home when the collision occurred, and no serious injuries were recorded.
The collision on Wedgewood Drive in Highlands Ranch on Sunday morning prompted the dispatch of the South Metro Fire Department and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
The red Mazda is shown in photos from the scene almost entirely inside the house, stopping between a piano and two couches.
The suburban house’s side was severely damaged in the collision. No one was injured in the collision.
The driver fell asleep at the wheel while delivering parcels, according to the authorities.
“We’re grateful this incident did not end in tragedy,” the sheriff’s office posted online after joking it was “not exactly the kind of “fast delivery” anyone wants.” The driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, is now facing charges of driving under the influence and reckless driving, according to CBS News.
The sheriff’s office pleaded, “Please slow down, stay alert, and help keep our community safe.”
