A 7-year-old girl was killed after she was hit by a lorry while riding her bicycle.
A CHILD was killed after being struck by a lorry while riding her bike home from school.
The seven-year-old was brought to hospital in the green village of Collingbourne Ducis, Wiltshire, where she died Wednesday night. According to authorities, the HGV driver came to a halt at the site and was not detained.
Officers are now pleading with anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said, “The girl was brought to Salisbury District Hospital but sadly died a short time later.”
“Her family is being helped by professionally qualified police, and our sympathies are with them during this extremely trying time.
“The HGV driver remained on the scene, and no arrests were made.
“A section of road was closed for around eight and a half hours to enable for crash investigation.”
The village’s residential road has finally reopened.
Police have asked anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them.
“We would ask anyone who observed the incident, or who may have dash cam footage that could assist our investigations, to call Wiltshire Police’s Collision Investigation Unit on 101, citing log 225 of yesterday (13/07),” investigators stated.
