A 2-year-old boy died after being struck by a pickup truck Saturday afternoon in Coconino County.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a toddler being struck by a vehicle at a residence in the Valle area, about 25 miles north of Williams, according to a news release from the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office.
The boy’s father reported that his neighbor had been helping the family haul water when he backed up and accidentally struck the child, records show.
The father then brought the child to the house of a state Department of Public Safety trooper who lived nearby, records show.
The child was then transported to the Valle Airport, but was pronounced dead by medics on the scene.
