EXERCISE IS IMPORTANT FOR STAYING FIT, AND WHAT YOU EAT AFTER THAT IS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT. A new study has shed light on the intriguing health and fitness benefits of drinking tea instead of water before and after working out.

Water has traditionally been the drink of choice for staying hydrated before and after an exercise, but a recent research article titled Tea for Sport and Fitness: A Scoping Review has revealed that tea can also provide a variety of benefits.

The study combines several studies that all imply that tea can be a great complement to a person’s daily diet as well as a hydration hack before or after a workout.

According to the research, four cups of tea per day are required to get the health benefits of tea.

With 77 percent of British adults already drinking tea on a regular basis, this goal appears to be within reach.

The Tea Advisory Panel (TAPDr )’s Tim Bond believes that the food and drink we consume on a daily basis has a significant impact on how we perform.

“In the United Kingdom, Public Health England recommends six to eight hydrating beverages per day, including water, low-fat milk, and sugar-free drinks like tea,” he said.

Water makes about 50 to 60% of our body weight, thus we must replenish it on a regular basis.

And if you enjoy working out and being active, keeping your hydration levels up is critical, especially when it comes to performance.”

Tea was once thought to be a dehydrator due to its caffeine concentration, however studies have shown that tea can provide the same level of hydration as water.

Blood tests and urine samples from subjects who drank cups of tea brewed with tea bags and 20ml of semi-skimmed milk were used to reach this conclusion.

Dr. Emma Derbyshire, a nutritionist and TAP expert, argues that “the average cup of tea contains less than half the caffeine content of coffee.”
