George Pearse, a personal trainer at London fitness center FLY LDN, specializes in low-impact exercise.

“While some of us love pounding the treadmill and getting down and dirty in an intensive HIIT class in the name of dropping a few pounds, many of us are wanting to get our fitness fix in ways that are kinder on the body and come with a lower risk of injury,” George said.

If you’re just getting started with your fitness adventure, George suggests exploring low-impact alternatives to HIIT routines.
Low-impact workouts may be done anywhere and easily incorporated into your everyday routine, but high-impact routines are best performed in the gym.
Changing the way you commute to work or wherever else you need to go is one method to get more exercise into your day.
George suggested walking instead of utilizing public transportation, or taking the stairs instead of the escalator at a railway or tube station if your destination is too far away.
Fitness centers and gyms are now open, and classes, while not yet available in England, will be soon.
When they are, George suggests reserving your spot in a low-impact workout class.
“Where individuals might go wrong is assuming that every workout has to be done at 100mph to be effective,” he said.
