“Increased visceral fat levels are a substantial health risk factor.

“Excess visceral fat raises the risk of atherosclerosis (heart disease and stroke), type 2 diabetes, cancer, and dementia.”

An MRI, CT, or DEXA scan is the most precise approach to determine your visceral fat levels, according to Dr. Lee.

However, for most people, this is prohibitively expensive and impractical, and there are other ways to analyze it.

“Generally, if your waistband is tight, your zip won’t stay closed, and your seatbelt is difficult to fasten, you’re carrying too much weight and may have too much visceral fat,” Dr. Lee stated.

“Perhaps it’s past time to face it, assess it, and take action before it’s too late.

“However, you don’t need pricey scans – all you need is a bit of string!”

The string test and the BMI test are two simple procedures to examine your visceral fat.
