Mark Labbett: The Chase actor lost ten pounds by eliminating one food from his diet – “Weight fell off!” he exclaimed.

MARK LABBETT has lost a significant amount of weight over the years, but his transformation has become more noticeable in recent months.

Mark Labbett, who stars in the hit daytime quiz show The Chase as The Beast, has been trying to lose weight for several years.

The quizzer was 6’6″ tall and weighed 29 stone at his heaviest.

However, after altering his lifestyle and overhauling his diet, he has lost a massive 10 stone.

Here’s how he went about it.

Mark made his television debut in 2009, when The Chase first aired.

Mark was at his heaviest in 2003, when he was in his final year of full-time teaching, weighing in at 29 stone.

“I was on the verge of getting high blood pressure pills,” the actor admitted at the time.

While he had lost a few stone over the years, he didn’t begin to lose weight dramatically until “just before lockdown.”

“Several factors came together nicely, and the weight has just dropped off,” he said.

“The main thing has been chasing down a hyperactive three-year-old who was in lockdown because the nurseries were closed.”

“Rather than going to the fridge for a late-night snack, all I could think about was collapsing in a heap on the bed.”

Mark tested positive for Covid, and some of the side effects caused him to gain weight even more.

He didn’t eat as much as he normally would because he had lost his sense of taste and smell for two weeks.

In addition, the quizzer changed his diet, sticking to a high-protein diet rather than “pub meals with onion rings and garlic bread.”

“I miss pub meals so, so much,” he admitted.

“I’m eating a lot less chips and other carbs than I used to.”

The TV star has also cut down on his sugar intake, which he previously described as his “downfall.”

“It’s a cycle; you’re less hungry, so you eat less, lose weight, and then you’re not as hungry.”
