Lisa Riley’s weight loss: The Emmerdale actress explains her secrets to losing 12 stone.
LISA RILEY has shed a significant amount of weight in recent years. How did the soap star go from a size 28 to a size 12 in such a short amount of time?
Lisa Riley is a British actress who is best known for portraying Many Dingle on ITV’s Emmerdale. From 1995 to 2001, and then again in 2019, the star was a regular on the show.
When Lisa returned to Emmerdale two years ago, fans were stunned to discover how much she had changed since her last appearance on the programme.
The 45-year-old is said to have shed 12 stone since 2012, moving from a dress size 28 to a 12 or 14.
Around the time she met her now-fiancé Al, she began to lose weight.
The actor was competing in Strictly Come Dancing at the time, which encouraged her to become more active.
“Doing Strictly kicked started my metabolism,” Lisa revealed in a 2016 appearance on ITV’s Loose Women. I noticed a difference after dancing for seven hours a day and then eating only soup since I didn’t want my meal to jiggle about as I moved.
“It’s becoming increasingly difficult for me to perceive my own reflection. I used to have a shelf that ran from here to there, but where did it go?
“It’s completely ridiculous. I used to have such a different appearance. I used to be happy, but now I’m happy and proud. But that was something I had to do. However, who knows. People have the ability to yo-yo diet.”
She explained that she lost weight through exercising, eating a nutritious diet, and abstaining from alcohol.
“Now I eat lesser portions,” Lisa explained.
“I don’t believe in fad diets, despite having tried them in the past. After 6.30 p.m., I don’t eat anything.
“I only eat a carb if I’m hungry, and I don’t drink or eat bread. I’ve been attending Zumba classes, which are a lot of fun. The gym is tedious for me.”
Lisa said she isn’t scared to indulge in her favorite foods now that she isn’t drinking alcohol, adding, “I still eat chocolate if I want it and don’t feel terrible.”
Lisa needed to lose weight for a variety of reasons, including Strictly.
Cath, her mother, died of cancer in 2012.
“Losing my mother, then seeing my father wired up and nearly losing him and becoming an orphan was a shock,” the actor told Bella magazine in 2016.
