‘I had it really bad…I didn’t tell anyone,’ Nick Knowles says of his 10-month health battle.
NICK KNOWLES was hit by Covid at the start of lockdown, and he describes the experience as “pretty bad.”
Long Covid’s side effects plagued him for ten months afterward.
The DIY SOS star kept this a secret in order to keep his job.
On ITV’s Lorraine, the 59-year-old detailed his Covid ordeal.
“I’m fine now,” he said.
I was in a lot of pain at the start of lockdown, and I had a lot of Covid.
I, on the other hand, was impatient and attempted to immediately resume my exercise routine.
Doctors told Nick he had long Covid, which lasted 10 months after the initial infection. “There seems to be some correlation or suggestion now that going too hard, exercising too soon after Covid, can actually cause you problems.”
“You have no energy at all,” he said.
The entire time, I was completely exhausted.
“However, I didn’t want to tell anyone in case I didn’t get a job.”
I didn’t say anything about it.
“So I’m climbing up seven-story buildings, stopping every two ladders to say, ‘I’m just taking in the view.'”
“However, I was able to get through it and, miraculously, about seven or eight months ago, I began to feel better and resumed my fitness.”

According to the NHS, the length of time it takes to recover from Covid varies from person to person.
While many people feel better in a few days or weeks and recover completely in 12 weeks, symptoms can last longer for some people.
The health organization lists the following long Covid symptoms:
Contact a doctor if you’re concerned about symptoms four weeks or more after contracting coronavirus.
“Your doctor will ask about your symptoms and how they’re affecting your life,” according to the NHS.
“They might recommend tests to learn more about your symptoms and rule out other possibilities.”
“These could include blood tests, blood pressure and heart rate checks, as well as a chest X-ray.”
In 2017, after a health scare, Nick revealed more about his health.
He said he’d “taken up yoga, given up meat, and even went a week without eating anything at all” on Good Morning Britain at the time.
