The oldest group had stricter sleep-wake cycles, as well as higher HDL cholesterol and lower triglyceride levels than older adults.

HDL cholesterol is a type of cholesterol that occurs naturally in the body and can help to lower your risk of heart disease.

Similarly, triglycerides are a form of fat (lipid) found in the blood that is a key indicator of heart health.

High triglyceride levels in the blood can raise your risk of heart disease.

As a result, the findings show that regular sleeping habits can lower the risk of heart disease, a leading cause of death worldwide.

The researchers stated, “Taken together with the favorable lipid profile, our data contribute significant evidence to the role of sleep and lipid metabolic management in the maintenance of longevity in humans.”

A lipid profile is a blood test that determines how much cholesterol and triglycerides are present in your blood.

Most adults are thought to require between six and nine hours of sleep every night.
