HEART DISEASE is a leading cause of death in the United Kingdom and around the world. While high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes have all been linked to the development of the illness, studies have also connected stress to it. In the comfort of your own home, researchers have discovered some easy yet effective strategies for decreasing stress levels.

According to the CIPD Health and Wellbeing at Work Report 2021, stress is once again the most common reason of absence from work.

Even while working from home, 91 percent of employees in companies with more than 250 employees reported some type of stress-related absence in the previous year. All is not lost, however, since there are several easy yet effective strategies for lowering stress at home.

Heart attacks, heart disease, strokes, and diabetes are all increased risks.

Stress causes problems that are not just physical, but also cognitive, emotional, and behavioral.

Chronic stress can cause melancholy, anxiety, mood swings, loss of appetite, and memory issues, for example.

In light of this, a new study has found that practising yoga or stretching activities at work can improve employees’ physical and mental health.

Scientists were able to safely conclude that yoga relieves stress better than traditional treatments, including massage, based on 15 scientific research involving almost 700 healthcare workers in the United States.

Participants in the study were randomly assigned to either begin an exercise routine or continue as is.

Only yoga and massage were found to be more effective than no intervention at all.

Dr. Michael Zhang of the Southern Nevada Health District, the study’s lead author, commented on the findings, saying, “Work-related stress has been associated to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, depression, and other major causes of morbidity.”

“Our findings show that physical relaxation techniques can aid in the reduction of work stress,” says the researcher.
