GALAXY chocolate is noted for its silky smooth texture and fine milling, which creates a delicious sensation. But how do they make their famed Ripple chocolate bar?

Mars, which has been based on Dundee Road in Slough since 1932, produces and markets Galaxy chocolate. This website was given unique behind-the-scenes access to the facility to learn more about how smooth Galaxy and Ripple bars are made.

The classic Ripple bar had a blue wrapper with yellow text when it first debuted in 1969.

It wasn’t until 1988 that the wrapper was changed to the brown packaging as it is now.

Several layers of Galaxy’s distinctive smooth and creamy chocolate cover the inside of the Ripple bar.

The chocolate bar is also smothered with chocolate on the outside, making it very easy to eat and non-messy.

Each Ripple bar is one-of-a-kind due to the manufacturing process.

Some people may even make it like Cadbury’s Flake, which is a thinly folded milk chocolate bar.

The two most popular types of chocolate in the UK have traditionally been Galaxy and Cadbury’s Dairy Milk.

The Slough factory can produce up to one million Galaxy bars each day, compared to roughly 150,000 Galaxy Ripple Bars.

In order to get the chocolate on the shelves, the factory is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

One of the first steps is coarsely milling the chocolate down to a micron level, which makes Galaxy incredibly creamy and silky.

“It literally as nearly as fine as actual silk,” said Ellyse O’Connor, Galaxy Senior Brand Manager.

“It means we can make that trademark Galaxy taste – a silky-smooth experience with a richness in flavor – that is so synonymous with sumptuous indulgence,” says the company.

Galaxy’s chocolate is still prepared in a crumb oven, which helps to bring out the caramel undertones.

But which chocolate bar is the nation’s favorite?

Cadbury’s iconic bar was declared the nation’s favorite in a survey of 2,000 adults conducted last year by Prodigy Snacks, moving Galaxy into second place.

However, according to a recent study by Galaxy, Britons enjoy the more opulent sensation that Galaxy’s velvety bar provides.

It was determined that 62 percent of Britons believe Galaxy is more indulgent, with a whopping 76 percent believing Galaxy to be more indulgent. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
