COVID-19 Vaccination Card Support, SharePlay Support for Fitness+, and MORE are included in Apple’s watchOS 8.1 update.
The Apple Watch now has vaccination card compatibility, SharePlay support for Fitness+, and other features thanks to watchOS 8.1.
Apple’s watchOS 8.1 is now available.
According to Apple Insider, the next Apple Watch update was initially thought to be a patch to cure all of the flaws and other performance issues with watchOS 8.
WatchOS 8.1, on the other hand, added additional features to the previous version’s abundance of capabilities. However, in comparison to watchOS 8, this is a modest change.
COVID-19 Vaccination Card Support in Apple WatchOS 8.1
Some restrictions for patients who finished their novel coronavirus shots have been eliminated as the COVID-19 vaccine continues to be rolled out over the world.
For example, European Union countries are increasingly demanding citizens to provide proof of vaccination when crossing borders. Authorities, however, accept both hard copy and digital COVID-19 passports.
As a result, tech companies like Samsung and Apple have implemented COVID-19 vaccination card functionality via Samsung Pay and Apple Pay on their devices.
The Apple Watch will now be able to use the COVID-19 immunization card that the Cupertino tech giant supports on its smart devices. Users must, however, upgrade their watchOS to the most recent version in order to present their proof of jab on their Apple Wallet.
Immunization card support in watchOS 8.1, on the other hand, allows users to submit proof that they have previously had their vaccination from the comfort of their wrists.
What You Should Know About Apple WatchOS 8.1
In addition to vaccination card compatibility, watchOS 8.1 brings an upgrade to SharePlay’s Fitness+ support.
According to 9to5Mac, Apple’s SharePlay feature was prioritized across all of its devices, including the iPhone, Mac, iPad, and Apple TV.
However, even with the release of the latest watchOS version, Apple Watch users appear to be left behind, as it only tweaked a minor change to its SharePlay feature. Fitness+ customers may now use the SharePlay feature in watchOS 8.1 to work out with up to 32 other people through FaceTime call.
Apart from that helpful SharePlay update, Apple has yet to increase the capabilities of the tool, at least for the Apple Watch.
