Alaqua Cox and Hawkeye’s relationship is explained in ‘Hawkeye’ Episode 2: Who is Echo?
After Clint Barton and Kate Bishop are kidnapped by the Tracksuit Mafia, the character makes a stylish but dangerous entrance.
Episodes 1 and 2 of ‘Hawkeye’ contain spoilers.
With Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld in leading roles, ‘Hawkeye’ made its long-awaited debut as a standalone series.
If the first episode was all about world-building, the second chapter ended with a bang by introducing Echo (Alaqua Cox), another major Marvel character.
After Clint Barton (Renner) and Kate Bishop (Steinfeld) are kidnapped by the Tracksuit Mafia, the character makes a stylish but dangerous entrance.
Echo, a fan favorite and Marvel’s first Native American and Deaf hero, is a fan favorite.
Maya Lopez first appeared in Daredevil (hashtag)9 in 1999.
Wilson Fisk, who we last saw in Netflix’s ‘Daredevil,’ adopted the hero after murdering her father, it was revealed.
Lopez is groomed and manipulated by Fisk, and in the television series, Matt Murdock eventually frees her from Fisk’s grip.
The friendship between Echo and Hawkeye
While it’s unclear whether we’ll see Fisk in the series, Echo and Hawkeye have a fascinating backstory.
In case you missed it, she took on the role of Ronin in the comics before handing it over to Barton.
According to this theory, the series could see a slight change by returning Echo’s costume, despite the fact that the Ronin introduced by the MCU was actually Barton in ‘Avengers: Endgame.’
Cox is the second deaf actor to play a Marvel character, following Lauren Ridloff in ‘Eternals,’ which adds to the character’s importance and authenticity.
When Echo appeared onscreen, fans were taken aback.
“I can’t wait to see more of Echo (hashtag)Hawkeye (hashtag)KateBishop (hashtag)Echo,” said another.
“I couldn’t be happier with two episodes of (hashtag)Hawkeye.”
“Lucky, Tracksuits, Old Baddies, Hearing Aids (there’ll be a silent sequence with Echo at some point), just need that old costume reference somewhere down the line and it’ll be perfect,” wrote another.
