As the new chief executive of Adarma, the Edinburgh-based cybersecurity firm, a former vice president at U.S. giant Cisco has been selected.
At the end of this month, John Maynard will take up the post, while current Chief Executive David Calder will take on the position of Chief Product Officer. Mr. Calder will help guide the overall strategy and service roadmap for Adarma in his new position, which in October posted a record 27 percent rise in sales to £ 41 million.
Mr. Maynard previously served as vice president of Cisco’s Global Security Specialists Division. Prior to that, he was headquartered in San Francisco and held dual positions as chief operating officer and vice president of cybersecurity product management at DXC Technology.
Adarma, a cybersecurity company headquartered in Edinburgh, is pleased to report 60 new jobs and a record year of £ 41 million in sales.
Mr. Maynard has spent more than a decade at Hewlett Packard in senior cybersecurity positions, was responsible for Vistorm’s acquisition in the UK, and led Singapore’s cybersecurity sector in Asia Pacific and Japan.
The appointment comes as Adarma looks to broaden its service offering in the UK, US and Europe and drive international growth. The appointment follows the completion, backed by mid-market private equity company Livingbridge, of a management buy-out late last year.
Mr Calder led the company’s growth from 12 to more than 250 staff during his seven-year tenure as managing director and boosted its turnover from £ 1.5 million.
“John is a leader in the security industry and I have no doubt that his experience in driving rapid international growth will be of great benefit to Adarma’s future,” Mr. Calder said.
Technology companies merge after the success of Lockdown
“With the global pandemic accelerating conversations about the need for comprehensive and proactive security strategies, there is a huge opportunity to grow our customer base and offer a broader range of services to help organizations of all sizes increase their cyber resilience.”
Mr. Maynard added, “I strongly believe in the growth potential of Adarma and look forward to working to take the company into its next development phase with David and the entire leadership team.”
“The vision and talent of the team at Adarma has already led to a long list of successes over the last few years, including consistently increasing revenue by providing proactive security threat management to some of the UK’s best-known brands.”
