Rob Jones and Nigel Eccles, owners of Edinburgh FanDuel Fantasysport, are raising $5 million for the upcoming Flick app

For their latest company, which they say is “the future of sports entertainment.” the co-founders of fantasy sports site FanDuel have secured $5 million in Series A funding.

The funding round for Flick was led by AlleyCorp, with participation from prior investors including Bullpen Finance, Everblue Management, Amity Ventures, Courtside VC and several angels, Nigel Eccles and Rob Jones said.

The company was founded in 2018 and the chat app allows sports influencers during live games to connect with their followers.

The app offers sports influencers a place inside their own brand space to develop and build a loyal and active fan base.

The funding comes at a time of rapid growth for the company, Mr. Flick said.

“Since May, we’ve seen a significant increase in our user base, which has grown 45 percent month-over-month, and engagement has increased tenfold over the same period. Many of our influencer-hosted chat groups, like AFTB and TalkFCB, host over 5,000 sports fans every day.”

In addition to the capital increase, Flick’s board will be joined by Kevin Ryan, a serial entrepreneur and founder of AlleyCorp. Ryan has co-founded MongoDB, Business Insider, Gilt Groupe, Zola, and Nomad Wellness, in addition to AlleyCorp.
