Vaccine confusion in the USA. While the Americans have approved the vaccine from the company Moderna and are thus the first country in the world to have two vaccines, BioNTech partner Pfizer complains: “Millions of doses are lying in our U.S. warehouses – but no one knows where they should go!
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted emergency approval to pharmaceutical company Moderna’s Corona vaccine. The FDA made the announcement on Friday. They said use of the drug could begin early next week. They expect that nearly six million doses of the vaccine could be distributed in the country immediately.
An advisory panel on Thursday had given the FDA the green light for emergency approval of the U.S. company’s Corona vaccine. Based on the information available so far, the benefits of the drug in use in people 18 years and older outweigh the risks, 20 experts said at a meeting held via video link.
“Congratulations, the Moderna vaccine is now available,” U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted minutes after the FDA’s statement.
