Coronavirus: To be revealed tonight by Boris Johnson


This evening, in Downing Street, Boris Johnson will hold a press conference.

At 5 p.m., the prime minister will address the country. In the midst of increasing questions about a new “mutant” strain of coronavirus, on Monday after a COBRA committee meeting.

Tonight, Johnson will be accompanied by Transportation Secretary Grant Shapps and Patrick Vallance, the Chief Scientific Advisor of the Administration.

To address the mutant coronavirus and travel restrictions imposed by the French and a number of other countries in Europe and beyond, he chaired a COBRA emergency committee meeting on Monday.

In the run-up to Christmas and with the additional difficulty of the end of the Brexit transition period on Dec. 31, the closing of cross-channel routes until at least Wednesday has worried companies.

Sainsbury’s warned that stocks of lettuce, some salad leaves, cauliflower, broccoli and citrus, all of which are imported from the continent at this time of year, may be disrupted by the disruption.
