With the debut of season 6, Married at First Sight UK sets a new E4 viewing record.

MARRIED AT FIRST SIGHT UK premiered on Monday night to E4’s highest-ever ratings for an original series.

The return of Married at First Sight UK follows the conclusion of Married at First Sight Australia and the seventh season of Love Island earlier this year. Married at First Sight UK promised drama and excitement as eight couples who have never met before seek to marry. The E4 original series reached a peak of one million viewers in just five minutes after only two episodes were aired.

A total of 16 single people are matched by dating “experts” and only meet their future spouse for the first time at the altar.

The eight couples spend time getting to know one another before making a lifelong commitment to a stranger in the hopes of finding the love of their lives.

According to Broadcast Now, the sixth season opener had 820,000 views in the first episode and soared to an astonishing one million viewers in just five minutes.

This was more than twice the number of viewers that regularly tune in to E4 at 9 p.m.

Married at First Sight has surpassed Tattoo Fixers as the channel’s highest-rated original series launch, with 452,000 viewers.

The show’s performance in the United Kingdom proved to be better than the show’s debut in Australia in June 2020.

Although the marriages in this series follow a similar style to the Australian version, they are not legally binding, and it features the first same-sex pair.

Viewers have voiced strong feelings about two brides on the show this year, Morag and Nikita, who expressed dissatisfaction with their pairings.

When they told the dating “experts” what they wanted in a partner, both women appeared to be quite fussy.

“I usually think that because I have a large personality, I need to meet someone with an equally strong personality,” Morag explained.

“If I don’t like him, I’m going to be very disappointed,” she continued.

“He wouldn’t be the typical guy I would choose for, so I’m not exactly jumping for joy, when I first saw him, I was taken aback,” Morag groaned to the camera after seeing her fiance at the altar.
