Everton’s FA Cup hopes are saved by Asmir Begovic’s “best save you’ll ever see.”
Everton fans went crazy on social media after Asmit Begovic made one of the best saves of the season in Saturday’s FA Cup win over Hull.
Everton’s Asmir Begovic made a spectacular save to keep Everton in the FA Cup third round against Hull City at the MKM Stadium on Saturday.
After parrying Hull striker Tom Eaves’ close-range blast, the Bosnian produced arguably the save of the season to prevent a late equaliser and avoid the embarrassment of drawing against a Championship side.
On social media, fans compared it to Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman’s famous Matrix-like save against Sheffield United in the FA Cup semi-final in 2003.
“Asmir Begovic just made one of the greatest saves in history.
“Amazing,” one fan exclaimed.
Another said, “That Begovic save has to be a contender for save of the season.”
“Begovic’s save was ridiculous,” one person wrote.
“A reaction of the highest order.”
Tyler Smith gave Hull a dream start when he scored after just one minute, but Rafa Benitez’s side quickly took control and responded with goals from Demarai Gray and Andre Gomes.
In the second half, the hosts equalized when youngster Ryan Longman curled a beautiful strike into the top-corner from the edge of the box, which they deserved.

The match went to extra time after FA Cup replays for the third and fourth rounds were canceled due to fixture congestion, and Everton’s Andros Townsend put the Toffees back in front after just nine minutes with another magnificent strike from 30 yards.
But it’s fair to say that Begovic will be the undisputed Evertonian hero tonight.
