William Shatner has revealed that he’s never actually watched an episode of Star Trek in his life. The Hollywood actor claims “there are many episodes I don’t know. There are some movies I don’t know”
Star Trek hero William Shatner has revealed he’s “never watched” an episode.
The 90-year-old, who played Captain James T. Kirk in the original Sixties sci-fi series, finds it too “painful” to see himself on screen.
And he has only seen one of the spin-off films – Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.
Shatner said: “I’ve never watched Star Trek. There are many episodes I don’t know. There are some movies I don’t know.
“I directed one of the movies – number five. I had to watch that one. But it’s all painful because I don’t like the way I look and what I do.”
It was reported last year Shatner, who split from his wife Elizabeth after 19 years, was ready to find love again.
A source said: “Bill is looking forward to getting back on the dating scene. He’s still got a lot of charm and a sense of humour.”
The insider went on: “He is already exercising more and even consulted with a stylist to help him spruce up his image for the dating scene.”
They added: “He’s not ready to sit at home and wait for the ‘final frontier’. At least not by himself.”
The Canadian actor has had a string of previous relationships and has been married and divorced four times.
Shatner’s last marriage ended in 2019 with Elizabeth Martin but the pair reunited this week to celebrate Shatner’s 90th birthday.
The former couple appeared to be in high spirits on the day as they were pictured driving together.
Shatner filed for divorce from Elizabeth in December 2019 but the split was only officially finalised in March 2020.
The actor was reportedly able to keep the majority of his fortune in the settlement, and he has an estimated net worth of over $100 million.
