Will Patton as Garrett Randall, why did he really leave Yellowstone?

Why did Will Patton disguise himself as Garrett Randall and leave Yellowstone?

Season 4 of YELLOWSTONE has ended, but why did Will Patton’s character, Garrett Randall, leave?

Yellowstone fans had been anticipating the premiere of the fourth season on Paramount Network for much longer than they had anticipated.

When it did air last year, however, the Western drama caused a stir with shocking plot twists left, right, and center, including Garrett Randall’s (Will Patton) departure.

The following is everything we know about Will Patton’s departure from Yellowstone.

Last year, Will Patton was introduced to the cast of Yellowstone in season three.

He was introduced as Jamie Dutton’s (Wes Bentley) biological father, who recently discovered that he had been adopted and set out to find his birth parents.

Jamie discovered that his mother Phylis had been beaten to death by his father Garrett, who had been sentenced to death for the crime, which is why he was adopted by John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and his now-deceased wife Evelyn (Gretchen Mol).

His presence, however, signaled bad news for the Duttons from the start.

Lewis Hamilton has been chastised for flying a vegan dog in his private plane.

As soon as he returned to the scene, he attempted to turn Jamie against John, Kayce (Luke Grimes), and Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly).

Jamie later discovered that the assassination attempts on all three of them at the end of the third season were actually carried out by his father.

Jamie chose not to say anything because he was determined to keep this a secret from his family.

Beth, on the other hand, discovered the truth and demanded answers.

When Beth confronted her adopted brother about the attacks in his office, he pleaded with her to keep quiet.

Jamie and Garrett would both be arrested, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) would be informed of the truth and pursue both of them, or Jamie would have to murder Garrett.

Garrett tells his son, in an emotional scene, that he isn’t a “bad man” and that he loves him.

This happens just before Jamie pulls a gun from behind his father’s back and fires, instantly killing Garrett.
