The show’s producers have recruited celebrity guests, most notably Jeopardy!, to host the quiz starting Jan. 11. Ken Jennings, the Greatest of All Time champion.

In January 2020, Jennings secured the coveted title over fellow candidates, James Holzhauer and Brad Rutter. Jeopardy was hosted by Trebek! Since its syndicated debut in 1984, and although the trivia game without Trebek at the helm is difficult for loyal fans to imagine, executive producer Mike Richards emphasized the importance of continuing the show as a tribute to the late quizmaster.

“Alex believed in the importance of Jeopardy! and always said he wanted the show to continue after him,” according to NPR, Richards said in November 2020. “We will honor his legacy by continuing to produce the show he loved.”

Jennings is aware that, in his guest role, he can never take Trebek’s place, but plans to do him justice.
