When is Black Widow scheduled to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
BLACK WIDOW is now out in theaters, continuing Natasha Romanoff’s story – but when are the events of Black Widow set?
Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha in Black Widow is her debut solo film. Despite being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2008’s Iron Man 2, the character has always taken a second place. Between several of the films, Black Widow continues her journey, thickening the MCU timeline.
The events of Black Widow take place shortly after the events of Captain America: Civil War, but before the conclusion of the film.
Half of the Avengers were imprisoned in the Raft by General Ross (William Hurt) after the end of the Civil War for violating the Sokovia Accords.
However, Black Widow escaped, and Natasha skulked away after assisting Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) in boarding a plane to pursue Baron Zemo (Daniel Bruhl) in Germany.
The Black Widow movie begins off right where she left off. Viewers observed her seek refuge in a safe place, shop for new clothes and passports, and evade General Ross.
There was a two-week time jump following the events of Black Widow.
Natasha, who had platinum blonde hair in Infinity War, caught up with Mason (O-T Fagbenle), her guns dealer, during this sequence.
He gave her a powerful jet, which she would later employ in Avengers: Infinity War.
When Steve and Natasha pick up Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) from Glasgow, Scotland, they use this plane.
However, in the last scene of Civil War, the jet was utilized to save the Avengers from the Raft.
Captain America arrives at the Raft, knocks out the guards, and frees his companions in the final scene.
Without Natasha’s assistance, Steve would not have been able to accomplish this.
The post-credits scene in Black Widow fast-forwards to “present day” in the MCU, adding to the timeline confusion.
Yelena Bulova (Florence Pugh) visits Natasha’s tombstone in the film’s final scenes.
After traveling back in time and through space to the planet Vormir, Natasha perished in Avengers: Endgame.
The Avenger was obliged to sacrifice herself on this world in order to obtain the Soul Stone.
The post-credits scene of Black Widow continues up after Endgame and depicts Yelena suffering with the loss of her sister.
