A cop slams a robber to the ground as he tries to rob a bank right next to him.

Robert Chitwood, 29, was apprehended by a police lieutenant who happened to be standing next to him when he attempted to hold up a bank and demand money from a teller.

In a breathtaking video, a cop apprehends a thief who had unintentionally attempted to rob a bank right next to him.

On Monday, November 22, Robert Chitwood walks into a bank in Columbus, Ohio, and demands money from a teller.

The 29-year-old is apprehended by the cop shortly after stealing the money from the Huntington Bank teller.

“He dropped the money down and surrendered on the ground,” a Columbus Police Lieutenant tells journalists outside the bank.

“You’re supposed to do this as a cop…

Stop robberies, assassinations, and other crimes.

“It was good to be able to accomplish one in my career,” he continues. “Every cop’s desire is to be at the right place at the right time to prevent a robbery like this.”

Chitwood also had a stolen check from the car’s owner that he forged, as well as a stolen vehicle from Cincinnati.

“This robbery was solved thanks to this plainclothes lieutenant’s quick actions,” Detective Herman added.

People praised the nameless police lieutenant’s “heroic” actions after the video went viral on Facebook.

“Lieutenant, you’ve done an exceptional job,” one user said.

I’m very happy with what you’ve accomplished.

“Yes, please!! This is fantastic!!!! You did an excellent job!” exclaimed another person.

In the right place at the right time.

“Everyone is safe, and there have been no reported injuries.”

“I would have loved to see the dude’s face,” another spectator admitted.

“I’m glad you were there,” someone else said.

“I’m sure the teller shares my feelings!”

This follows a “real-life Batman” vigilante securing two burglars to a lamppost with duct tape and painting them in “Joker” clown makeup.
