What was Fern Britton’s reason for leaving This Morning?

With anchor Fern Britton stepping down in 2009, THIS MORNING viewers have seen some familiar faces come and leave. What was Fern Britton’s reason for leaving This Morning?

On weekday mornings, viewers look forward to seeing Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on their televisions. Although they are one of the most popular presenting teams on ITV’s breakfast show, Holly has not always been Phillip’s sidekick. Fern Britton, an author and broadcaster, was a regular on the show for ten years, from 1999 to 2009, so why did she leave?

Fern Britton, 64, started as a guest presenter on This Morning in 1993 and was promoted to full-time anchor six years later.

She co-hosted the show on Friday mornings with John Leslie before taking over as the main host on weekdays in 2002.

Along with Phillip Schofield, the mother-of-four hosted a variety of shows, including The British Soap Awards and All-Star Mr and Mrs.

She said that she will be taking a vacation from the show in November 2008, but that she would return in January 2009.

She announced her permanent departure from the morning show two months later. In July 2009, on her 52nd birthday, her final program aired.

In his autobiography, Life’s What You Make It, her co-star Phillip noted her departure from the show.

In 2009, he said he had a dispute with Fern, which may have contributed to her leaving the post.

“I stepped back into the makeup room and gently asked, ‘Please don’t do that to me again,’” he said after she accused him of “meddling” with the show’s substance.

“I believe that was the time at which Fern decided she didn’t want to do This Morning anymore, for whatever reason.”

Fern spoke about her intention to depart the show on The Ray D’Arcy Show earlier in 2020.

“I started to not enjoy it as much, and the morning I resigned, I had no idea I was going to resign,” she explained.

“Something happened, and all I could think was, ‘That’s it,’ so I walked away and resigned. In fact, I was treated horribly.

“After a while, I just thought to myself, ‘Sod it.'” There was also a rumor that I left because Phillip was paid more than me, and I always tell people, “Why would I leave a performance to go to nothing if I was worried about money?”

“Brinkwire Summary News” has elicited no response from ITV.
