‘What have I done?’ says Bradley Walsh regarding The Larkins’ regret.

THE LARKINS is an inspiring drama based on the renowned book series The Darling Buds of May that will air on ITV. When Bradley Walsh, who plays Pop Larkin, originally took on the project, he had some doubts.

The Larkins is set to premiere on ITV on Sunday, October 10th, and it promises to be the perfect dose of escapism. The pleasant family story, set in the 1950s, follows the Larkin family and includes some oddball individuals. Bradley Walsh of The Chase spoke to this website and other media outlets about receiving the call for the part.

The Larkins follows a Kent family as they share their experiences as a working-class family in rural living.

In the 1990s series, David Jason played Pop Larkin, and in the most recent adaption, Walsh plays the character.

Joanna Scanlan is playing Pop’s wife Ma, while Walsh’s own son Barney is playing local cop PC Harness.

Bradley admitted to this website that he was concerned when he first accepted the gig because of his other obligations.

“When I was requested to play pop, I said yes right away and thought to myself, ‘wow, hang on a minute, what have I done?'” he remarked.

Because, as you may be aware, everything you do is subject to time restrictions.

“Then I inquired as to who was writing it, and they said Simon Nye, and I was a huge admirer of The Durrells at the time.

“Simon’s body of work is truly remarkable. I had never heard of the [Darling Buds of May] books and had only seen one episode back in the 1990s.

“It wasn’t really my area of expertise, but when I heard Simon was writing it, I thought, “Wow, that’s fantastic.”

“That was the turning point, therefore that was the defining event.”

Walsh said the following regarding the production: “Remember, we had to postpone this; it had been a long time coming.

“What was fantastic about it in the end was that everyone stayed on board and we got incredibly lucky,” says the author.

The TV host explained that the escapist quality of the show drew him in.

He continued, ” “After reading the script, I felt really warm, and it was a no-brainer in the back of my mind.
