Vikings ‘: behind-the-scenes illustration posted by Peter Franzén as King Harald Finehair wearing his famous crown

On December 30th, the final episodes of the hit Vikings series finally premiered on Amazon Prime Video.

There were a lot of surprising stuff going on, and fans could see what would become of King Harald Finehair, played by Peter Franzen.

A behind-the-scenes shot of him wearing his signature crown was recently shared by the star. Below, we’ve got all the details.

[Spoiler Alert: This article includes “Vikings” spoilers].

Who is Harald Finehair, the king?

When King Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) is still alive, King Harald makes his first appearance in Vikings Season 4.

From the beginning, as he wants to be the King of Norway, Harald seems to have more reasons, and that would mean that Ragnar would either give in or have a direct confrontation with him. When he manipulates the election for the Kingship of Norway in his favour, he eventually gets his wish. In the meantime, he accepts the office, gets what he always wanted, and trumps Björn.

The last time the audience saw Harald, he was wounded in a fight against the Russians. He is caught by them in season 6B, but manages to escape. After the final battle is won, he returns to the Kattegat, but Bjorn has already died after coming up with a masterful plan to save his country. Naturally, he wants to marry his two widows, Gunnhild (Ragga Ragnars) and Ingrid, in another effort to outmaneuver Bjorn (Lucy Martin).

Harald is a bad guy, just in case you haven’t caught on yet. In reality, before the first fight with the Rus, he sexually raped Ingrid, and she’s pregnant now. She agrees to marry him, but Gunnhild, thinking she’s going to Valhalla to be with Björn, dies of suicide.

Harald allows them to stay when Ivar (Alex Høgh Andersen) and Hvitserk (Marco Ilsø) return to Kattegat, and Harald goes with them when Ivar wants to go back to Wessex. However, in the first major battle between the two opposing sides, he is killed by a lone soldier.

But Harald still manages to kill the man. While he dies, he sees his brother Halfdan (Jasper Pääkkönen) again, which is a beautiful sight for the fans. Harald dies in Wessex after eventually becoming the king of Norway.

The actor who plays Harald, Peter Franzén, recently posted a behind-the-scenes photo of King Harald at his wedding. He’s wearing his famous crown, which has eye-catching jewels with blood splatter on his forehead.

The crown fits perfectly over his forehead and seems to lend it a royal touch. He has braids in his hair that he wears down, and he wears a gold and black ensemble while looking at the camera with his striking blue eyes.

Behind Franzén is the dock and members of the cast and crew can be seen in the background.

The actor captioned the post on Instagram, “Well hello #2021 ! Headgear – #check (blonde) hair down and brush (with some gold ) – #check face of last year wash – never forget – #check chin up & look ahead – #check #historyvikings #amazonprime #hbonordic .”

As viewers may recall, Harald is dying in a thick fog that sometimes makes it hard to see him.

A week ago, Franzén shared a picture of himself surrounded by the fog. In another Instagram post, his face is just visible as the fog surrounds him. His facial tattoos are still visible, as is most of his face.

He captioned the post, “#yuletide is almost over folks. It’s time for a better #newyear! But before 2021, it’s time for #historyvikings @amazonprimevideo @hbonordic .”

Fans are always happy to see a behind the scenes post. Hopefully we’ll see more of them in the coming weeks now that Vikings is premiering.
