Vicky McClure of Line of Duty takes part in an Alzheimer’s Society memory walk.
Vicky McClure of LINE OF DUTY walked out with hundreds of walkers in a touching homage to “Nana” Iris.
DI for Vicky Kate Fleming, who plays Kate Fleming in the iconic BBC show, cut the ribbon to kick off a walk to raise money for dementia research. She was participating in honor of her grandmother Iris, who passed away from dementia in 2015.
For more than a decade, Vicky has participated in the Alzheimer’s Society’s Nottingham Memory Walk.
In the moving documentary Our Dementia Choir, she discussed caring for Iris in 2019. She inspired others to participate in Memory Walks across the country as an Alzheimer’s Society ambassador.
“We need to express our support for those living with dementia now more than ever,” Vicky remarked. Visit memorywalk.org.uk for more information.
Meanwhile, individuals in care can tinkle the keys to discover if music can improve the lives of dementia patients. The pianos used in the Light Up My Life study include light-up keys.
Lauren Laverne, a Music for Dementia ambassador and BBC Radio 6 presenter, said: “Music has the capacity to improve the welfare of those living with dementia.” It could be able to help them regain their independence.”
