Vernon Kay breaks the silence after stepping down as host of This Morning due to health reasons.

VERNON KAY has broken his quiet on social media following his departure from his role as a presenter on This Morning today.

Vernon Kay, 47, of Just the Two of Us, has broken his silence on Twitter when it was confirmed that he will not be presenting This Morning with Rochelle Humes as scheduled. Over the weekend, it was announced that the actor had tested positive for coronavirus, prompting him to cancel a number of upcoming appearances. He has now resorted to Twitter to provide an update on his status to his followers.

COVID has kept me from making my This Morning debut today.

Vernon praised his supporters for their support, citing his 1.1 million followers.

“Missing out on my This Morning debut today due to COVID,” he wrote.

“I was looking forward to a little fashion and cooking with Rochelle…”

The star went on to offer his fans an update on his health, saying that his symptoms had not been too awful thus far.

“Hopefully, we’ll go again soon,” he remarked. P.S. I’m in good spirits… (at least so far!)

Vernon closed the tweet with, “Really appreciate your well”

From Tuesday through Thursday, Vernon was set to co-host This Morning with Rochelle.

He did, however, disclose over the weekend that he had been forced to drop out of his hosting duties.

“I’m really sorry that, due to a positive Covid test, I won’t be able to present on This Morning with Rochelle next week, nor do Radio 2 guest hosting and Steve Wright’s cover,” he stated.

He told The Sun, “Two legendary shows that I’ve been a fan of for decades.”

Fans flocked to Vernon’s post after seeing his tweet, wishing him well.

“I’m very sorry for you,” one person wrote. Hopefully, you’ll have another opportunity to do This Morning in the future. x” x” x” x” x” x”

“Oh Vernon,” said another. I was really excited to see you on This Morning, and I’m so sorry you’ve been diagnosed with the awful covid.

“I hope everything is fine with you. You’re also missing out on a fantastic curry meal today.”

“This would have been a wonderful show,” wrote a third. Hopefully, you’ll have the opportunity to co-host the show with @RochelleHumes in the future.”

Over the summer holiday, Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have been presenting, with the latter stepping in last-minute once more yesterday.

Rochelle is now the host of the show, which is called “Brinkwire Summary News.”
