Update time and event patch details for the Overwatch Summer Games 2021
THE OVERWATCH SUMMER GAMES have returned this week, with new cosmetics and event goodies included in today’s update.
As part of the annual calendar, the Overwatch Summer Games 2021 event begins today.
The next Overwatch update will be released on Tuesday, July 20th, and will last until August 10th, according to Blizzard.
The development team has released the first clip, announcing the first event skins players can expect in the next loot boxes.
Mermaid Symmetra, Poolside Ashe, and Sprinkles Mei are among the characters who will be accessible for a limited period.
The Summer Games will feature a number of popular returning modes, but no new ones or maps will be added.
The start time for the Overwatch Summer Games 2021 has yet to be determined, although it is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. BST.
This will be a unified launch, meaning Blizzard will release the event patch on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC at the same time.
The official description from last year’s event gives gamers a decent idea of what to expect:
“The Overwatch Summer Games are back, and we’re challenging you to go onto the field and deliver your best game this year.
“In Lcioball Remix, the all-new spin on original Lcioball, win matches to receive weekly rewards and score some goals.
“Play to earn Overwatch Summer Games Loot Boxes and unlock cosmetics like Lifeguard Pharah’s new Highlight Intro, Surf’s Up Echo’s new Highlight Intro, or Ana’s new Highlight Intro to supervise the battlefield as Lifeguard Pharah, catch some waves as Surf’s Up Echo, or sip a tropical drink and enjoy the summer sun as Ana’s new Highlight Intro.
“Celebrate another season of exhilarating competition with new skins, player icons, voice lines, emotes, victory poses, and more in the Overwatch Summer Games Loot Boxes. There are other items available from prior Summer Games events.
“Don’t wait too long—the Overwatch Summer Games will be over before you know it, just like any vacation.”
Here are the two new modes that Blizzard is expected to introduce:
With Lcioball Remix, we’re throwing you a curveball! Two balls are in play at all times in this quicker, more chaotic version of Lcioball, and bonus balls for extra points will spawn around the arena at random intervals. To win, you must be swift on your feet and score more goals than your opponents.
