Ugo Monye, the star of Strictly Come Dancing, has revealed how he talks with Tilly Ramsay behind the scenes, announcing that he bought them both walkie-talkie devices.
Ugo Monye of Strictly Come Dancing has revealed that he and Tilly Ramsay speak behind the scenes via a walkie-talkie.
The rugby player has said that he does not communicate with his co-star in the traditional manner, preferring instead to use the airways.
During filming, Ugo explained to Metro.co.uk about the celebs’ social-distancing bubbles: “[We communicate] using WhatsApp groups, and I believe it was the same last year… You couldn’t actually spend time together, and your bubbles are isolating you.” However, after becoming closer to Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Tilly, Ugo determined that the two could hook up without using their phones while remaining COVID-compliant.
“I’ve moved in extremely close to Tilly, and I actually bought Tilly and I walkie-talkies last week since calling each other on the phone is so old fashioned!” he explained.
Ugo went on to say on the two’s budding friendship: “Tilly is one of my favorite characters. She’s a fantastic girl who is a lot of fun to be around, is full of energy and life, and is excellent company.” This comes after Gordon, Tilly’s father, gave a strong warning to her as she prepares to compete on Celebrity MasterChef Australia.
The 54-year-old turned to Twitter to wish Tilly well as the series premiered on Channel 10 in Australia on Saturday night.
However, the star chef joked that if his daughter were “too excellent,” she would end up throwing him out of work.
“My little girl is all grown up….c’mon Tills!” Gordon wrote. You’ve got it! So happy to see you on @Masterchefau tonight at 7:30 on @Channel10AU…..just don’t be too good kid, or your old grandpa will lose his job.” In addition to the tweet, he provided a video of Tilly’s entry to the cooking show, which showed the 19-year-old quickly preparing her meal for the judges.
Tilly is seen saying in the video that her father gave her one bit of advice: “The first thing he said was like ‘if you get out first round,’ he’s like ‘don’t come home.'””
